A popular area of sports memorabilia is collectible figures of athletes. The trend began in 1988 with the Starting Lineup series of figures, a very popular line featuring notable athletes from baseball, football, basketball, and hockey; and, to a lesser extent, boxing, track & field, skating, soccer, and golf. The series began with toy company Kenner, and moved to Hasbro where it was produced until 2001. That year, the collectible sports figures concept was picked up by McFarlane Toys, in the McFarlane's Sports Picks line of figures, and is still being produced as of 2008. McFarlane produces toys based on baseball, football, basketball, hockey and NASCAR.
