Spirit of the Game is an insert set in 2004 Studio. The 20-card highlights the biggest stars in the league in 2004 (with the exception of Barry Bonds, who did not have any memorabilia/autograph contracts in 2004). Sixteen of the players are current stars while the last four are retired stars who embodied the "spirit of the game". The base set was serial numbered to 999 copies with a die-cut parallel set serial numbered to 500 sets. The set was also partially paralleled by three game used and one autographed game used set.
Note that the game used jersey pieces of Don Mattingly are actually jacket swatches. The autographs are sticker autographs.
