DistributionEdit

The set was distributed in 15 card wax packs, 48 card rack packs and two different factory sets. This was the first year a factory set was available to hobby dealers.

Base SetEdit

1986 Topps is a 792 card base set. It includes a special Pete Rose Tribute subset, plus the usual Record Breakers, Turn Back the Clock, All-Stars, and Team Leaders subsets. The manager cards feature team checklists on their card backs.

ErrorsEdit

There are two uncorrected errors in the set. #51 Bobby Wine is printed as #57. #141 Chuck Cottier is printed as #147.

Key CardsEdit

The key rookies in this set are the Darren Daulton, Lenny Dykstra, Cecil Fielder, and Mickey Tettleton rookie cards.

Tiffany Parallel SetEdit

Distributed only in factory set form, the Tiffany set parallels the entire 792 card set. Six sets came per case. The cards have extra gloss and a brighter back than the standard issue cards. It is believed that 5000 sets were printed.

Insert SetsEdit

Glossy All-StarsEdit

Inserted 1 per rack pack, this 22 card set features the starting lineups from the 1985 All-Star game. Also the manager for each team and a team photo card for each team is included in the set.

Glossy Send-InsEdit

This 60-card set was part of a special send-in program. Ten cards would be sent to a collector in exchange for $1 and six "Special Offer" cards that were inserted 1 per wax pack.
